Renecost – the future of grid stability

Reality of
the energy transition

Many power grids are still not prepared for the growing share of renewable energy. This leads to voltage increases in the grid – often close to 10%, and in some cases even higher. As a result, limit values are exceeded.

The power consumption of certain loads depends on the voltage and increases with the grid voltage. Resistive electrical loads (electric heaters, hotplates, hair dryers) can draw up to around 20% more power at a voltage increase of +10%. Devices with motors or transformers also often operate less efficiently and require more energy.

Consequences

Higher electricity bills for consumers. Greater burden on the environment, because unnecessarily more energy has to be generated. The “green” energy is therefore not used optimally. In the long term, grid expansion and better control are needed. This is important, but expensive and time-consuming.

Solution

As a short-term, practical complement, a Renecost system is an attractive option. It can be delivered and installed quickly. It can be integrated into the existing grid with little effort. It can reduce local voltage peaks, relieve the grid and lower consumption. Not a miracle cure, but a proven, safe technology for many applications.

Conclusion

Grid expansion remains indispensable; at the same time, a Renecost system can not only bridge the transition period, but also permanently reduce energy costs and consumption and ease the burden on the environment.
